South African township bars or taverns aren't given the thought and care that alcohol brands give to up-market bars. Branding is basic and an on-going war between rival brands exists. Competitors will stop at nothing – ripping down posters, covering tables and painting over our communication. Taking the Windhoek brand to taverns, we kept all of this in mind. We created decorative metal grilles with lockable hatches and secure branding at point of purchase. Furniture made from beer crates created affordable and sturdy seating, whilst solar-powered "bottle" lights gave a reliable light source.
