Heatherwick Studio: Designing the Extraordinary
Wood Pencil / Spatial Design / Exhibition Design / 2013
This exhibition took place in the Porter Gallery of the V&A Museum and presented the work of British design agency Heatherwick Studio. The exhibition landscape empowers visitors to explore. Holistic groupings of objects are displayed on single plinths. Clusters of plinths show a particular project and also overlap, evoking the spirit of the studio. Laser engraved exhibit labels, images and audiovisual devices have their own plinths, with equal importance to the ‘formal’ objects. An interactive gallery guide dispenser was invented. The show received a total of 86,434 visitors, the most successful paid- for contemporary show in the V&A’s history.
