The Award Issue of Advertising Newspaper came out at roughly the same time as all the big advertising prizes were being awarded internationally. Its front cover compares the advertising award hunting season to all- out war. We depicted award trophies as militant superheroes inspired by action figures from popular cartoon comics. The cover came in three different colours – gold, silver, and bronze – symbolising three levels of awards. From observation, the gold version was the most popular with our audience. Many switched from bronze to gold once they realised that a gold version was available too.
