NYT Illustration Cover Series
Wood Pencil / Magazine & Newspaper Design / Magazine Front Covers / 2012
We commissioned illustrator Tim Enthoven for our cover story, ‘The Human Swap'. The work brought visual scale to a piece on the complexities of negotiations for the release of Gilad Shalit, an Israeli soldier held prisoner by Palestinians. The most amazing part? Tim illustrated all 1,028 figures by hand. For our Education Issue, we commissioned Will Bryant to draw doodles over a fun, hot-pink backdrop, to communicate the youthful zest in the issue’s theme. We then added Dan Cassaro’s sticker illustrations – resembling those in elementary school – on the cover and throughout.
