Dieter Rams: As Little Design As Possible
Wood Pencil / Book Design / Book Front Covers / 2012
A book on Dieter Rams called for a functional and effortless layout, yet elegant and developed to the last detail. A sensory mesh is silkscreened using clear ink on the front and back covers, and the spine. Rams’s emphasis on materials’ tactility (concave stereo buttons, convex calculator smarties, shavers’ grips), inspired this cover. The mesh is not seen clearly from a distance and the plastic feeling of it in your hand is a subtle surprise. The only touches of colour are the dark green type and the different coloured head and tail bands. The font, Lettera-Txt, was designed for this book.
