Studio East Dining
Yellow Pencil / Spatial Design / Spatial Design / 2011
Built on top of a 35m high multi-storey car park in a live construction site, this temporary pavilion hosted a pop-up restaurant, Studio East Dining, during summer 2010. Its translucent form contained a large dining room, made from a cluster of interlocking timber-lined spaces, which related to key elevated views across London’s 2012 Olympic site. The project was designed and built within ten weeks from initial briefing to opening night, and with a life-span of only three weeks. The 800m lightweight structure was built with 100 per cent recyclable materials borrowed from the surrounding construction site.
