Virtual Box Simulator
Wood Pencil / Digital Advertising / Tools & Applications / 2010
The US Postal Service wanted to get America shipping with its four priority mail flat-rate boxes. Each box ships for a low flat rate no matter where it’s going or what it weighs. Customers can order free boxes online. But which size? Without a box in hand, customers didn’t know which one fitted their shipment. Augmented reality put boxes in customers’ hands instantly. PriorityMail.com users launch the virtual box simulator to see 3D images of each box. Users compare the item they want to ship to the virtual boxes. No measuring. No maths. Simple and useful, the application was covered in publications such as The Wall Street Journal, Fast Company, and Creativity.
