Skins, Series 2
Wood Pencil / TV & Cinema Crafts / Cinematography / 2009
This piece can be enjoyed with no knowledge of the TV show Skins, but it is full of imagery that relates directly to the second series. The aim of the project was to reflect the more sombre, introspective tone of the second series of Skins. The second series of the show was much darker, featuring the lead character suffering brain damage after an accident, a main character's death, another character being stalked, and ultimately all the characters leaving sixth form to go their separate ways. The target audience for Skins is largely teenagers, but it is actually watched by the 16–34 age group. The trailer for the first series was a no-holds-barred party, reflecting its hedonistic, reckless tone. The second series trailer is more of a 'comedown'. The first trailer was made to feel real; in the second one, we wanted to reflect the more sober tone by creating something dreamlike and surreal. As the characters were now established, we wanted to hint more to the journey they would be taking. The spot offers clues as to what will happen to each character.
