Silhouette of Crane
Wood Pencil / Packaging Design / Packaging / 2009
The image and the theme for this packaging is the Japanese fairy tale, 'The Grateful Crane', in which a crane does fine embroidery in return for a Japanese man's kindness. We chose this story for the embroidery theme, and because the crane is the symbol of Japan. Different forms of packaging – shopping bags, envelopes and wrapping paper – are exquisitely designed. Each package has two parts: one for inside; the other for outside. The inside part portrays the crane, while the outside is made with semi-transparent paper to show the silhouette of the crane inside, as the scene of the original story. We also prepared different patterns for the outside and the inside, for customisable packaging.
