Flash
Yellow Pencil / Environmental Design / Leisure & Tourism / 2009
Flash was a temporary restaurant at the Royal Academy of Arts open from November 2008 to January 2009. As part of the GSK Contemporary season of arts events, the restaurant was conceived as an installation within a gallery space, where the dining experience had the theatricality and provisional nature of a performance. The dining room interior was constructed of art packing crates inlaid with mirrors and trompe l'oeil scenes from an anarchic garden: swirling plantlife, dining underwater creatures and flocks of parakeets, inspired both by the history of the site as the gardens of Burlington House and imaginary worlds beyond Mayfair.
