People Like Us

By presenting the Edwardian season in a fresh and surprising light, we demonstrated that BBC Four not only provides challenging, in-depth knowledge, but does so in a lively, accessible way. We presented authentic looking scenes of traditional Edwardian life but used CGI to pepper them with elements of the modern day that easily fitted into the busy scenes of day-to-day life a hundred years ago, illustrating that Edwardians were very much people like us. These additions to Edwardian life are well known to all of us: the policeman on the beat in bulletproofs, the lairy ‘white van man’ amid horse and carts, and a reckless pizza delivery motorcycle winding through a crowded thoroughfare.
