OLPC Laptop
Graphite Pencil / Product Design / Work & Industry / 2007
The non-profit One Laptop per Child (OLPC) initiative, formed at Massachusetts Institute of Technology by Nicholas Negroponte, is dedicated to creating a revolutionary child-sized laptop. Governments purchase the laptop for their schools, where it will bring learning, information and communication to children where it is needed most: developing countries. For such a large scope, we have designed the OLPC laptop to be robust, high-touch and expressive. Additionally, the unique assembly and multiple functions for every part has insured that the design is centred around energy efficiency and low-cost production, without compromising a highly detailed and tactile finish.
