Keane were eager for us to create a symbolic approach to the design of their album 'Under The Iron Sea'. To establish the campaign with a clearly defined identity we worked with Big Active illustrator Sanna Annukka to create a visual narrative, seemingly innocent in feel but with an underlying twist of menace reflecting a darker, more topical lyrical mood. The CD album was designed to maximize the use of a roll-fold booklet inserted on its side – this unfolds vertically to reveal another world beneath the cover's turbulent waves. A hardback storybook format was designed to house the DVD version of the album and features a series of poignant mini scenarios developed as images for subsequent single releases.
