Twilight: Photography in the Magic Hour
Wood Pencil / Environmental Design / Exhibitions / 2007
This contemporary photography exhibition drew together several distinctive bodies of work, much of which was large in scale and subtle in colour and tonality. V&A Design created chambers for each artist using the exteriors and surroundings as a blank canvas where the idea of twilight was explored. Purple strip lighting created the illusion of a glowing horizon and sheer white fabric running the length of the gallery diffused the edge of the room. The title graphic consisted of 266 light bulbs; this dotted grid was carried through to the treatment of the artists' names at the entrance to each chamber. The graphics complemented the 3-D design by using brushed aluminium vinyl to reflect the purple light.
