There are thousands of homeless men, women and children in downtown Johannesburg. Most of them don't even have simple things like blankets to keep them warm. As part of the ‘Salvation Army Winter Appeal’ for 2005 a poster was created to appeal not only to the public for continued support but to the homeless too. Real, useful blankets were used as posters rather then useless paper posters, with a message encouraging the homeless to use the blanket posters if and when needed. A few days after we put the blankets up in downtown Johannesburg most of them had been taken off by homeless men, women and children. The Salvation army was also approached by big businesses in the area wishing to donate blankets, warm clothes and money.
