Vitamin D
Graphite Pencil / Book Design / Complete Books / 2006
Vitamin D is a global, up-to-the-minute survey of drawing in contemporary art, featuring the work of 109 emerging artists who have been nominated by influential critics and curators from around the world. The design of the book was created so as to not overpower the delicate and subtle beauty of the drawings. The typewriter font Everson Mono was chosen for its spontaneous and unrefined look. The cover drawing idea came from examining the chemical model structure of actual Vitamin D, and an Asian creamy wood-free uncoated paper was used to suggest a surface suitable for drawing. Vitamin D is both a reference book for art world aficionados and an accessible introduction for newcomers to the subject.
