Still Here Bench
Graphite Pencil / Ambient / PR & Creative Stunts / 2006
Many people see cancer research as a bottomless pit. They do not think that making a donation really makes a difference. After all, a cure for cancer has not been found to-date. The task was to highlight the real advances that have been made by Cancer Research UK in detecting and curing cancer and to encourage donations. The idea revolved around the fact that thanks to the progress Cancer Research UK has made, thousands of people who are still here today would not have survived 10 years ago. Engraved memorial park benches were used to commemorate people that have survived the disease thanks to research into cancer. Local councils across the UK helped greatly by allowing the cancer survivors to place the benches wherever they wanted for a period of up to 30 years.
