New Blood Entry — TheErased.otf

To this day, 293 journalists are imprisoned globally, that’s 3 times more than in 2000. Imprisoning journalists is an invisible problem. Because we can’t read what isn’t published.

To raise awareness we made this problem visible. This is done with a font family that erases one word related to every journalist in prison. Every new imprisoned journalists is a new word erased.

We made a website to keep an overview of the words and imprisoned journalists. We also created a poster campaign and social posts to spread the message.

Finally, on World Press Freedom Day we launch an intervention together with news organisations to replace their font to our font. This visualises the direct attack on journalism and makes it clear what we lose when journalists are erased.
