New Blood Entry — Napkin Novels
Penguin / 2021
Access to reading in the U.K. is at its lowest ever, with more than 380,000 youths not owning a single book. These numbers only get worse for underrepresented youths on Free-School-Meal Plans. These are the same kids who can't relate to literature they read in school up till their GCSE's.
Penguin's Napkin Novels aim to turn every meal for a disadvantaged youth into an opportunity for reading by providing easy to access novels during lunchtime and recess.
