Often overshadowed by other events, the refugee crisis is still prevalent. Although we might not hear about it on mainstream news, refugees still face incredible hardships due to political and cultural tension. It doesn’t help that there is usually a significant language barrier, perpetuating social stigma and division from the adopted countries.
We believe the power of words can change the world. That’s why Duolingo is striving to #BreakTheBorder between refugees and the local population through the use of language.
