Smartphones allow us to connect with our friends with a tap on a screen. However, their constant presence hinders our ability to spend meaningful time together. We asked Reddit users in cities across the world for areas near their homes that were cellular dead-zones. We chose the most popular responses as the sites for pop-up events called Martini NoBars. Here, guests enjoyed complimentary Martini-based drinks and light appetizers with their loved ones. The absence of digital distractions led to impactful conversation and connection, and our guests gained a greater appreciation for being in the moment.
