Men that have had oral or anal sex with another man in a period of 3 months are automatically banned from blood donation. These restrictions on donation are based on homophobia and not based on valid medical concerns.
‘This type could have saved lives’ is made out of the blood of 9 gay and bisexual men, that are banned from the blood donation service.
In collaboration with the biggest LGBT celebration in the UK, Brighton & Hove Pride, the type is used for this year's festival branding to make visible the injustice and lobby for the repeal of the discriminatory law.
