New Blood Entry — Google Body Type
Google & HMCT / 2020
We were challenged to find a genre, song, or musical movement that best represents a cause and bring it to life using typography. We discovered that by age 17, 80% of girls are already unhappy with their bodies. So we asked real young women what music empowers them, and helps to fight this confidence crisis. Then, we projected the lyrics from these songs directly onto their skin in the Google font Roboto. From their real curves, we created a new body positive weight for Roboto, Roboto Curvy. A bold sans-serif display type, Roboto Curvy is disruptive, and shows the beauty in natural curvature and disproportions.
