New Blood Entry — Level
Google & HMCT / 2020
Music and typography are two very powerful tools of expression, which is why Google & HCMT challenged us to create a typography led campaign that highlights a cause represented by music.
Thinking about the current climate situation, the composition ‘Elegy for the arctic’ by Ludovico Einaudi instantly came to mind. Einaudi’s call for action and the fact that I live in the Netherlands at 6 meters below sea level, made me feel responsible to get involved.
The result is ‘Level’, a font I designed as a conversation starter for the rising sea levels. Alongside the font, I up-cycled leftover materials to raise money for the protection of the Arctic. I am aware that this will not solve climate change, but I hope that together with the Level campaign we can work towards a sea that remains level.
