New Blood Entry — BBC Trace: Engage in Data
BBC / 2020
We give our data away too often, without knowing where it goes or its environmental impact. Young people want to engage in the anonymous world of data and want more control of their personal data. However the only way of accessing your data is through Apple Screentime, and it is difficult to access and it is not engaging. Testing in our sample group of 16-24 year olds found that not one person could find how to access Screentime on their iPhone without being guided.
We created BBC Trace.
To gamify screentime and make data accessible, and to transform users data into an interactive body map.
BBC Trace aims to:
• Inform users on their personal data footprint.
• Educate users on ways to reduce their emission.
The less data emitted, the lower the score.
