New Blood Entry — Seen

In China, the government censors all content relating to social movements both online and offline.
However, in 2018 the Me Too movement began using emojis and images illegible to AI to bypass censorship. We took inspiration from those activists to find new ways to bypass censors.
Introducing, Seen - intricately designed messages of hope to give a voice to China’s Me Too movement and fight oppressive government censorship.
The two messages of Seen are “我也是” (which translates to Me Too) and “打破沉默者” (which translates to break the silence). Their designs are inspired by traditional Chinese quilts, made by mothers to ward off evil spirits.
These designs will be featured on the homepage of Baidu Images (China’s Google), printed on cards to be passed out in the streets, and posted on posters across the city.
With Seen, we hope to celebrate the work of China’s Me Too activists and further spread the message.
