New Blood Entry — Fail Better

At Fail Better, we believe that there’s value to be found in disastrous design. Shaped by the lack of conversation around failure in the creative industries, our monthly talk series celebrates all things imperfect.

Every month, we give four ballsy creatives the counterintuitive task of opening up to an audience about their finest flops, misfires, catastrophes and, more importantly, what they've learned from them. We've been absolutely blown away by the willingness of recent graduates, tutors and some of the biggest names in the industry to bare all, by telling us about all of the lessons they've had to learn the hard way.

Everyone has messed up at some point in their career, so what better way to de-stigmatise 'failure' in the creative sphere than running a talk series with a difference; packed full of hilarious anecdotes of mishaps, misfortunes and misunderstandings.

As students, it's been refreshing to hear so many honest and open accounts of some of the realities of working in the creative field. The response from the public has been overwhelming; we're chuffed to be able to say that we've had a full house at every event so far.

Our speakers have all been incredibly candid and truthful about their experiences with failure, but so has our audience; Fail Better's following has been so supportive of the talk series that we've even started to introduce an open mic to the events (the liquid courage was on us), so that anyone in the audience can share a funny design clanger with the room.
