New Blood Entry — Beryl the Third

In 2018, Beryl’s busy, working parents are often absent in her life. They don’t mind overhearing the outdoor adventures they disapprove of and are secretly proud of her bold single-mindedness.

Insight: the wistful parents are boring role models and the first and third generation now collude in mobile chats and make real plans for the continuation of timeless rebellion. They are the parentheses of energising peril.

The animation shows Beryl’s relentless, motion-blurred lifestyle; the trans-generational dialogues reaffirm the guided irresponsibility and sincere friendship.

I integrated the creative process and the speedy animation in originally alternating cuts.
