Unilever - Solve megacity problems / 2014
One in six people live in a slum worldwide, with the number expected to rise to one in four by 2050. Due to a lack of facilities, open defecation is rife. This causes outbreaks of cholera and other life threatening diseases.Dharavi (Mumbai) is the largest slum in Asia and is faced with the same issues. We will change behaviour by raising awareness of the dangers of open defecation, whilst providing an alternative that ensures this behaviour change is permanent. Our idea gives people an incentive to use proper toilet facilities, which will result in a natural change in behaviour.
