Cement Trees Are Growing
- Google Fonts & The Typographic Circle
Urbanization is growing cities and compromising the environment. In recent years, Egypt has been expanding roads and razing trees. Using the Google font ‘Cairo’, a campaign was created to shed light on this environmental crime. “Cement trees,” by Ahmed Hijazi, is a metaphor for urban development. The poem paints a dystiopian image where humans are disrupting nature by replacing trees with cement. This campaign is located in Heliopolis Cairo, where you can see the lines of the poem come to reality. Through highlighting what happened to this once tree-filled neighborhood, we can take a stronger stance on future urban developments.
