In Germany, emergency services are impacted by onlookers filming road accidents with their smartphones. To deter them from doing so, an innovative digital pattern was designed to function like a camouflaged QR code that covered ambulances, paramedics and equipment. Smartphone cameras immediately picked up the multi-angle QR codes and displayed a warning directly on their screens, showing the consequences of their actions and how to behave more appropriately when an accident has taken place.

Comment from D&AD Community
"It uses a really simple approach effectively. Within the technical limitations it does its job."
Keita Kuroki, Technical Director, BASSDRUM"The life-saving QR design is a brilliant idea to stop onlookers in emergency situations, simply but effectively solving the problem. It’s a great example of the truth of design: design doesn't need to be intricate, or visually appealing, but it must solve people's problems."
