Machine Hallucination: New York
Refik Anadol Studio was commissioned by Artechouse: New York in 2019 to showcase an inaugural installation at its state of the art digital space. The studio debuted their largest installation to date: Machine Hallucination, an exploration of New York's architecture through the mind of a machine. By deploying machine-learning algorithms on photographs of New York City, this installation aimed to uncover our collective memory, the ever-changing shape of a city in 1025 dimensions, and the ways that new forms of visual representations can alter people's perception of an iconic destination.
